After surprising the world with his Emancipation screening last year, Will Smith, who took a small break from his social media jokes, recently took to his Instagram stories to give a shout-out to the comedian and apparent “brother”, Dave Chappelle. This was not the first time that the two funny men have joined together as friends and supporters of one another, but it is the most recent. In his story, Will Smith wished Chappelle, who was celebrating his 50th birthday, with a picture of the two that was captioned “It makes sense you’re turnin’ 50 at the same time as hip-hop!”

Dave Chappelle, who celebrated his birthday on 24 August, is probably one of the most controversial comedians in recent history. But even with all of that, he has still managed to not only garner a huge following but also have some pretty huge celebrity names on his roster. With Will Smith, Kevin Hart, Kanye West, and even Chris Rock, it is not surprising that sometimes his friend groups may end up clashing. But given that the comedian does not shy away from saying his mind, it might be a little hard to convince fans that certain fences are mended.

While it may have seemed completely normal to some, Will Smith’s story confused some fans a little because there was one main connection between the two that was missing. A connection that was used against the two after the slap gate incident.

With the Oscar incident still fresh in people’s minds and Chappelle making his stance on the slap known to everyone, fans were a little confused at what they were seeing while the rest continued to shade the Fresh Prince star.

All the speculation did not end even after Chappelle went on an interview with The Telegraph and said that he saw himself in both men. But the truth is that both men support each other and their careers. And that goes back to 2018 when Will Smith did standup and opened the night for Chappelle.
