Sydney Sweeney Will Get an “extreme reaction” Says ‘Immaculate’ Director
The poster girl of the new wave of cinema, Sydney Sweeney currently basks in her rampant Hollywood inroads as she stands on the verge of the release of her next film Immaculate. In her third collaboration with director Michael Mohan after Everything Sucks! and The Voyeurs, the state of affairs, have received a significant dial-up. Famed for her coming-of-age characters that tether along the fringes of moral and psychological thrills such as in Euphoria, her upcoming role could well water them down.
In a significant push for the project, the director not only broke down the crux of the film but also spoke about the likely unhinged reactions the actress would generate.

Playing the role of Cecilia, an American nun traveling to Italy to join a remote convent, the upcoming horror flick lies full of jump-scares and gory surprises. In talks with Variety, Michael Mohan revealed that the movie will be “a roller coaster ride, but the ending is f*cking extreme”. Teasing further, he pitched Immaculate as his “boldest film” ever, and Sydney Sweeney as its crown jewel. “People are going to walk away having an extreme reaction to it, and that’s all her,” he described the anticipated outcome.
Scheduled to release on March 22, 2024, Immaculate has several scenes that will pull off major twists. Additionally, the synopsis of the movie has the actress as a nun who gets pregnant despite being a virgin. However, what appeared miraculous at first turned into something very sinister, with Mohan not pulling back his punches with the imagery.
In the meantime, her last two movies went in quite the opposite directions regarding the box office and critical reception.

Released on December 23 in the US, Anyone But You recently grossed past $212 million at the global box office. Starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, the film, based on Much Ado About Nothing, extended its record as the highest-grossing ever live-action adaptation of any work of William Shakespeare. Moreover, following a staggered release, it continues minting.
The Valentine’s Day release and Sweeney’s first superhero flick alongside Dakota Johnson, Madame Web, however, missed its mark. After debuting at 23% on Rotten Tomatoes it crawled past $96 million worldwide against a production budget of $80 million falling way short of expectations. Hopefully, as predicted by the director, Immaculate turns the tide for Sydney Sweeney.
