Sydney Sweeney brought along two of her grandmothers and her mother, Lisa Sweeney, to the Los Angeles premiere of Immaculate on Friday. Playing a pair of little old nuns in the same Italian convent as Sweeney’s character Cecilia, her grandmas added a special touch to the film’s storyline. During her recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on February 27, Sweeney shared the story of flying her two grandmas to Italy to take part as extras in the movie.
On the talk show, Sweeney arrived with a stack of photos featuring her grandmas on the set, ready to show Jimmy Fallon and the audience. Fallon could not resist sharing a picture of one of Sweeney’s grandmas, taking a smoke break in costume, sending the audience into fits of laughter. Sweeney revealed that her entire family has a strong affinity for the horror genre. She herself has been eyeing the role since her teenage years.

Sydney Sweeney shared the story behind landing the role in Immaculate. Reflecting on her journey, the actress revealed auditioning for a previous iteration of the film back when she was just 16. However, it was not until a decade later, when the project resurfaced, that Sweeney took matters into her own hands and reached out to her agents.
Sweeney added, “I can’t get this script out of my mind. What’s happened with it?“. Sydney Sweeney seized the opportunity to collaborate with the writer in reshaping the script to suit a 25-year-old. After enlisting producers and getting a financier, she brought on a director, making her debut as a producer. Turned out, this move not only brought luck to Sweeney but also to her grandmas.
