Back when Sydney Sweeney jumped on board for The White Lotus, the dark-comic thriller tropes converged with social satires to offer a highly edgy American drama. With its all-star cast and two very successful seasons, the talks about a third installment evoked intrigue manifold among fans after the second’s dramatic conclusion in 2022. Although the renewal is not set to premiere any time before 2025, a cast update that is revving up the gears of anticipation is The White Lotus’s recent addition from Blackpink, Lalisa Manobal.

Lisa’s entry to The White Lotus will mark her acting debut. Moreover, this will make her the second member of the band to appear in an HBO series.

Lisa joins The White Lotus Season 3

Back in 2023, when Mike White pitched the idea for a third installment to Casey Bloys, White also promised a tease of a “supersized” season. And it looks like right now it is all coming true with Blackpink’s Lisa’s addition to the star-studded cast, as was reported by Variety. Although the details of her role are being kept under wraps, the reports suggest that the series is ready to begin production in and around Koh Samui, Phuket, Bangkok, and Thailand this February. 

As a result, a new group of guests is getting ready to walk the White Lotus property with newer secrets and darker hooks. The first and the second installments covered the exotic destinations of Hawaii and Sicily. Therefore, the supposed 2025 trip will offer a new tide of Thailand extravaganza with its native rapper on the boat, Lalisa Manobal. Given the second season was such a big hit with its record-breaking viewership, it is now time to wait and watch what the fresh addition brings to the plate.

Having said that, although the third installment has brought in the ensemble additions of several actors, the clue of confirmation has unfortunately gone amiss from Sydney Sweeney.

Will Sydney Sweeney return for The White Lotus season 3?

In the second season, only two actors returned from the initial installment which were Jennifer Coolidge and Jon Gries. As for now all the additions hinting for season 3 lack the sign of Sweeney just like in season 2. Although in Mike White’s post-finale interview, the question of Jon Gries’ whereabouts came to allude to a further storyline for season 3, it is difficult to pinpoint who will return and who will not. 

Yet, in an interview with Marie Claire Australia, Sweeney took notes of how there had been conversations about bringing back past characters. However, that does not confirm Sweeney’s return as Olivia. Instead, when she was asked about it, she replied with a “maybe”. She continued saying, “If the story works for Olivia, then of course.”. Having said that, should such a scenario unfold, an epic crossover of the cinema and record world icons will be in the works.
