Sydney Sweeney Reveals How She Had No Other Option to Choose From When She Landed Cassie’s Role in ‘Euphoria’
Sydney Sweeney changed the entire dynamic of her career when she decided to be a part of Euphoria. This teen dramedy by Sam Levinson turned out to be absolute gold and gave a new direction to not only Sweeney but to its other cast members too. However, her journey from Spokane to the role of Cassie Howard was not that easy.
Her career in the industry got a kickstart with Sharp Objects, but she was still far from a significant role. While The Handmaid’s Tale and Everything Sucks gave her fame, she needed more. And that is when her agent sent her the script for Euphoria. She revealed that Cassie was the only role left when she auditioned for Euphoria during her recent appearance on the Awards Chatter podcast of The Hollywood Reporter.

According to Sweeney, every other role in the show was filled. This adds up to the fact that the role of Cassie Howard was meant for her. Surprisingly, she could not get into the room for the audition initially. Hence, she had to put herself on tape.
While she took on the role of Cassie Howard and nailed it to perfection, she was not the first choice of the makers for the role.

Sweeney revealed that the makers thought that she would be inappropriate for the role. Moreover, the script of Euphoria seemed “crazy” to her at first too, although she did admit that it was extremely amazing too. She accepted that the script was something that she, as an actress, would totally love to do.
She told the host that when the makers were not ready to take her for the audition, she put herself on tape, and that’s how she came across the creator, Sam Levinson. Once she got the role, she fit in so perfectly that people started thinking that she was dumb for real. This became a problem for her when she auditioned for the role of Olivia Mossbacher in The White Lotus. However, she eventually got the role and even got an Emmy nomination for it.
