Created by Sam Levinson, Euphoria has come to be HBO’s trademark series. The show does not beat around the bush and gets right into drugs, love, and everything in between without mincing even the least bit about the horrors of it. And in this layered tale, Cassie Howard, played by Sydney Sweeney, manages to grab the audience’s attention by the jugular. The actress found her claim to fame in the twisted character arc of Cassie Howard, and while she would not have it any other way, she wished she wouldn’t have thrown caution to the wind when it came to her family.

Given how the actress had been tirelessly working since a young age to succeed in the industry, her family was bouncing off the walls when Euphoria succeeded the way it did. And therefore, her dad and grandpa decided to watch it on their own without any context about what it entailed.

The 25-year-old actress has, on countless occasions, proven to be a family woman. She brings her mother on sets and she takes her grandmother on various adventures throughout the globe, sometimes even making her an extra. While that is the case after the actress has an Emmy nomination and various multimillion-dollar projects in her name, the circumstances were different during Euphoria. While her mother, owing to her time on set, knew what to expect, her father and grandfather were completely oblivious. “My dad and my grandpa turned it off and walked out,” she says in a clip for Sunday Today with Willie Geist.

Euphoria was acknowledged as a series that was willing to pump iron if it meant showcasing just how troubled the life of high school students can get. And it did, so it was not afraid of quipping in one too many intimate scenes that often left the audience gobsmacked.

The series is an award-worthy and top-charting drama, however; it is not the perfect watch for a family gathering. Especially if you are starring in it. The actress’ revelation of her father walking out just during Euphoria makes one wonder if all is right at home for Sydney Sweeney.

The Anyone But You actress’ rise to fame has been an uphill battle. One that resulted in the divorce of her parents and the selling of her childhood home. But for all the hardships, her family remains quite closely knit. Even her father, who walked out on Euphoria, is very happy about her success.

Making projects that one can enjoy with their family is a struggle many celebrities have talked about. Ryan Reynolds even confessed to doing certain projects just for the sake of his kids. Thankfully for Sweeney, her vast acting range and intelligent choice of projects will give her father plenty of projects he can enjoy with his parents.
