Ever since Anyone But You, fans have been wishing for Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell to share the screen one more time. Their chemistry really brought classic rom-com vibes back to Hollywood after a long time. So when rumors began circulating about them reuniting in Johnny Depp’s upcoming supernatural thriller, Day Drinker, fans' hopes for a revival of that Disney couple magic shot through the roof. Sadly, turned out, it was all just a hoax, and Sweeney's representative confirmed that she would, in fact, not be a part of the film, Day Drinker. 

Now, instead of Sweeney, a rising star who has become a darling of studios is joining Johnny Depp and Glen Powell in this new movie. 

It was first reported by The InSneider, that Sydney Sweeney and Johnny Depp were joining forces for Marc Webb's Day Drinker. And now, another insider report from MyTimeToShineHello revealed that Daisy Edgar-Jones is in talks to play the female lead in the upcoming film. However, much like the previous report, there has been no official confirmation of Edgar-Jones' involvement with the project. Nonetheless, the rumor could be true, considering that the Normal People sensation now stands in the same league as Sweeney. 

As per an August report from Variety, Daisy Edgar-Jones is currently on the radar of every casting director. She is also one of the most wanted actresses by Hollywood studios in her twenties, alongside Sweeney and her Euphoria co-star Zendaya. Whether or not Edgar-Jones steps in for Sweeney, it certainly does not put an end to the dreams of seeing the Anyone But You stars share the screen once more.

Sweeney and Glen Powell are already brainstorming ideas for a sequel of the 2023 movie, and the actress seems quite optimistic about it. 

Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell proved last year that there is still an audience that appreciates light, feel-good romantic comedies. Their movie, Anyone But You, grossed $220 million worldwide, which naturally led to some speculations about a potential sequel. In an interview with E!, the Immaculate actress teased the possibility of it, saying, "We're talking about stuff. You never know; you'll have to wait and see". 

Even Powell hinted at the anticipated sequel during an interview with Vanity Fair. The actor confirmed that "ideas are being batted around" for the second installment of the rom-com franchise. Nonetheless, it is for sure that Sweeny and Powell will not be sharing the screen in Marc Webb's Day Drinker.
