When the names of rising young talents in Hollywood come to mind, Sydney Sweeney is usually the one on top. From appearing as a guest star in shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Criminal Minds to landing an Emmy nomination twice, she came a long way. While her name is stuck in everybody’s mind these days, very few people know about the background of the 25-year-old.

Sweeney was invited to the podcast of The Hollywood Reporter called Awards Chatter. The host began by asking her about her family background and her life growing up. A popular fact about the actress is that she is from a small town Spokane in Washington. She began with it and then talked about her mother and father’s profession. While her mother was a stay-at-home mom while she was growing up, her father was in the pharmaceutical industry.

Sweeney also mentioned that her mother studied and practiced law for a while. This sums up the fact that she comes from a background of well-educated people and hence always aced her studies. In fact, very few people know that she was a valedictorian in school. She also studied business despite the fact that she wanted to be an actress.

Though she was born and raised in the small town of Spokane, Sweeney always had huge dreams. But how did this dreamer get her first role ever?

The actress retold the story of how she got her first role in a film. She revealed that a small Indie film crew came to Spokane and they were going to shoot a Zombie film. Though she did not have much to do in it, Sweeney was extremely excited.

However, she knew that convincing her parents for working in a film is going to be hard. In fact, when she told them about her will of building a career in show business, they thought she was saying it because she just wants to be a princess. Hence, Sweeney took a few steps ahead and created a five-year business plan to convince them.

Sydney Sweeney is a perfect example of someone who even though came from a small background, made a space in the billion-dollar industry by themselves.
