Sydney Sweeney may be an unstoppable force in the entertainment industry today, but there was a time when her humble beginnings stood in the way of her becoming a Hollywood star. Coming from a middle-class family, the Euphoria actress faced many financial struggles in her arduous journey. And it took a lot of determination and one adorable presentation for her to convince her parents to embark on it. At the mere age of 12, she employed PowerPoint to relay her true feelings to them.

Sydney Sweeney reveals that her PowerPoint has been held hostage

In 2020, the Fifty-Fifty founder told Paper Magazine that she had not seen the presentation since her preteen days. According to her, her mother was “keeping it hostage” because she wanted “to release it” at a later date. Sweeney, who often worried about letting her parents down at earlier stages of her career, clearly held their opinion in high regard, even as a child.

For the 25-year-old’s parents to have supported her throughout her rise to fame is a testament to the good job she must have done with her pitch. In the 3 years since this interview, Sweeney’s success has skyrocketed such that her fanbase might even be willing to pay to see it!

While she successfully convinced her parents to let her venture into Hollywood, she still struggles with convincing people of something else. Since the moment she rose to the top, Sweeney has wanted people to understand one aspect of her journey.

Sweeney refutes that her success came all of a sudden

After gaining international recognition and establishing her presence in Hollywood, Sweeney revealed a misconception that surrounds her. The Reality actress confessed to being haunted by remarks that suggest her achievements “happened” quickly. For her, it was many years “of hard work” that got her here. Especially to nab the roles “that caused more momentum.” 

She may be at a point where people would ditch other megastars just for a picture with her, Sweeney does not want people to assume that her fame came easily. After all, securing not one but two Emmy nominations must take back-breaking effort.
