Sydney Sweeney Flaunts Her Curves on Social Media Right After Clapping Back at Body Shamers
Pretty privilege in Hollywood comes with a double-edged sword. On one hand, it gives aspiring people a leg up. But on the other, especially for women, it comes with the weight of being objectified and always seen through the male gaze. Take Sydney Sweeney, for example—despite turning in one amazing performance after another, she is still struggling to be seen as more than just the blonde bombshell.
This week, Sydney Sweeney found herself at the center of yet another wave of mindless and downright misogynistic chatter about what it means to be feminine. And in response, the actress pulled off a move that is nothing short of iconic.

Sydney Sweeney just turned the tables on her critics with a very cheeky move. She posted a series of topless photos on her Instagram. "rain rain go away," she captioned her post. In the first shot, the Anyone But You star wore nothing on top except a cardigan, leaving it open to show off her chest and midsection. She followed it up with more snaps of the same city backdrop in the next slides. This came right after Sweeney, fresh off wrapping an untitled Christy Martin movie, called out the flood of hate and body-shaming filling her comments.
Without saying a word, Sweeney let her critics dig their own grave with a video featuring their own nasty comments. It all started when the Daily Mail published some photos of her while on vacation in Florida. Of course, per usual, faceless online trolls felt the need to jump in and criticize her body like they had some sort of ownership over it. But Sweeney is way past letting that kind of nonsense get to her.
Earlier this year, Sweeney had the perfect response for those who think they can police what women’s bodies 'should' look like.
Sydney Sweeney spreads body positivity
Sydney Sweeney sat down for an interview with Variety in March this year, ahead of her horror film Immaculate. She pointed out how people seem to think they can talk about her however they want, just because they believe she has signed away her personal life when she entered the industry. But the Euphoria star, and a former victim of body dysmorphia, reminded everyone that she operates on “a human level” first.

Last year, Sweeney also told Glamour, “I want to show girls that it's amazing and beautiful and empowering to have the bodies that we have.” As the award-winning actress keeps proving herself with her iconic moves, one can only hope the world catches up and realizes that women—Sweeney included—deserve better than being part of this low-level, outdated discourse.
