Beneath the sparkle and shine of superstardom, fame is a bit of a double-edged sword. Sure, it rockets artists to society’s elite and makes those red-carpet moments look like they were born to be movie stars. But with all that spotlight, privacy often takes a back seat. Many celebrities have opened up about the dangers they face, and sadly, some paparazzi chases have even ended in tragedy. Recently, Tinseltown’s very own ‘It’ girl, Sydney Sweeney, had a scary run-in with the paps where she was hounded so far as her home for bikini pictures.

Sweeney has finally spoken out about how that unsettling moment went way too far, making her question if fame does guarantee security.

Sydney Sweeney recently spoke to Glamour about the not-so-glamorous side of skyrocketing fame, where security breaches are the new normal. Sharing a recent run-in with the shutterbugs, she recalled how things took a disturbing turn when the lens chasers actually showed up at her new Florida home, yelling at her family outside. Sweeney recounted one of them, saying, “If you tell her to just come outside in a bikini,” only then would they back off.

Rumors swirled online that Sweeney might have called the paparazzi on herself, but she set the record straight. It made zero sense that she would invite photographers to her home, especially with her baby cousins and family hanging out in the backyard. Sweeney also shared that she has her own receipts—photos of paparazzi lurking in kayaks, hiding in the ocean bushes like it is some stealth mission. She recalled they showed up at 8 AM and did not leave until 4 PM.

Sweeney explained it is not so much the photographers that get to her, but the deeper invasion of privacy that lingers in her mind.

In her recent chat with Glamour, Sydney Sweeney clarified that, at the bare minimum, she should feel safe and comfortable in her own home. However, the real fear is not from the paparazzi, but the unsettling realization of how easily her location can be found online. The multi-talented, polyglot star also shared that these sneaky snaps making the rounds actually put her safety at risk.

With those pictures circulating, everyone can track her every move with just a swipe on their phones. Sweeney even mentioned how she has heard boats cruising by, with people shouting, “It’s Sydney Sweeney’s house!” as if her front yard has become the latest star tour stop. While these bizarre experiences of instant fame can push many young stars to their limits—just like her co-star Zendaya has said about how overwhelming it can be—Sweeney has her guns ready to handle it all.
