Sydney Sweeney Celebrates ‘Anyone but You’ Nomination at GLAAD Award
The GLAAD group announced the nominees for the 35th annual GLAAD Media Awards. In the running for Outstanding Film is Anyone but You, released by Sony Pictures in the US on December 22, 2023. Though critics had mixed opinions, the movie turned out to be a surprise hit, making $80.4 million on a $25 million budget. To celebrate the nomination, Sydney Sweeney shared the story of the nominated list on her social media.
GLAAD will celebrate the victorious LGBTQ stories and artists at two ceremonies in 2024. The first will take place on March 14 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, followed by the second on May 11 at the Hilton Midtown in New York City. Besides the GLAAD Awards, the movie is also up for two awards at the People’s Choice Awards. It snagged nominations for Comedy Movie of the Year and another one for the leads, Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, as Comedy Movie Stars of the Year.

The movie, inspired by Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, follows the story of two mismatched individuals who pretend to be a couple at an Australian wedding. According to Deadline, Anyone But You is set to cross the $50 million mark domestically, reaching $57.4 million by its fourth week in theaters. Over the weekend, including Martin Luther King Jr. Day, it is expected to bring in a total of $9.25 million, with a 23% drop in its 3-day performance.

She also shared the delight of seeing fans dance their way out of the theaters, something that brought happiness to her heart.
Furthermore, Sweeney acknowledged the film that topped the box office for two consecutive days, attributing it solely to her fans’ adoration. According to her, the revival of the rom-com genre would not have been possible without viewers seeing her at the cinema. The message concluded with an invitation for those who have not seen the film to explore what this hype was all about.
