A tinge of inspiration is all it takes for an idea to immerse itself in reality. In Hollywood, such instances of one artist or project serving as the cradle for another are quite frequent. Actors such as Henry Cavill would lay the foundation for the next generation of takers, such as Liam Hemsworth and David Corenswet, to fit into his shoes. Meanwhile, visionaries such as James Gunn and Taika Waititi laid the foundation for the tried and tested ‘MCU formula’. Joining in their quest for the same were Glen Powell, Sydney Sweeney, and the cast of the upcoming rom-com, Anyone But You.

In the early days of filming the flick, the cast would huddle around to learn and pay homage to one movie that played a big role in shaping their upcoming one.

The upcoming R-rated romantic comedy, Anyone But You ties down Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell in a holiday heart-tugger. Directed by Will Gluck, the flick will narrate the tale of two exes pretending to be a couple during a destination wedding. The stellar cast of the movie also includes Dermot Mulroney and Rachel Griffiths from the 1997 rom-com, My Best Friend’s Wedding. In talks with Entertainment Weekly, Gluck revealed that the cast screened the timeless flick during the early days of shooting.

The resulting watch party not only helped the cast chisel their roles but also served adieu. “It was emotional because it was like Dermot was passing the torch to Glen,” said Gluck. My Best Friend’s Wedding had the two actors play out the story of one preventing another from marrying someone else, for they were destined to be one. Meanwhile, the Sweeney starrer would delve into a couple, figuring out that they are each other’s best.

Mere days ago, Sony released the trailer for its upcoming all-female hero production, Madame Web. Starring Dakota Johnson as the titular character, it also stars Sydney Sweeney as Julia Carpenter aka Spider-woman. The teaser debuted to much fanfare before settling for some divisive takes. Ezekiel Sims, the big bad of the movie, is at the center of fan criticism for a suit borrowing elements from Tobey Maguire’s as well as Andrew Garfield’s suits yet falling flat in the aesthetics.

On the other hand, the Euphoria actress takes on a comic-accurate look, complete with glasses. Sweeney will appear alongside Isabela Merced as Anya Corazon and Celeste O’Connor as Mattie Franklin. The three will team up with Johnson’s Cassandra Webb and take on the role of the Spider-women. Furthermore, each with their own unique set of abilities will counter one of Spider comics’ lesser-known villains.
