Nonetheless, the clearly non-romantic Hollywood pair, is now joining forces for another film, though this time, it is not a romcom.

Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell are currently on the radar for Edgar Wright’s Running Man remake, a fresh take on Stephen King’s dystopian thriller of the same name. While nothing is set in stone yet, World of Reel has confirmed the scoop from Daniel Richtman, who recently teased “Big Sydney Sweeney news” on his X account. The Euphoria star is also teaming up with Edgar Wright for her upcoming Barbarella, which is still coming together.

Apart from that, Sweeney has David Michôd’s Christy Martin biopic under her belt as well, which will start production this month. And now with the Running Man remake, which was already adapted by screen icon Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1987, it seems Sweeney’s plate is quite full. Nonetheless, if she reunites with Glen Powell again, there is a chance a new batch of rumors could surface, something that the Hit Man star shed light on earlier this year.

Glen Powell hinted that the entire dating rumor was more like ‘showmance’, which has worked incredibly well for Anyone But You’s surprising success.

No one had expected Anyone But You to take off, not even the makers. However, the movie became a sleeper hit, and a lot of the credit for the success goes to the clever marketing ploy that made Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell the talk of the town. Powell told the New York Times in April that people like it when they see a romantic on-screen pair create the same chemistry off-screen, “and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit.”

Powell added, “It worked wonderfully.” The Top Gun: Maverick actor also commented on Sweeney being “smart,” hinting that she might have played a huge role in this clever strategy. Whether or not the Anyone But You leads are teaming up again for Edgar Wright’s Running Man remake, it is for sure that this time around, they need to come up with a fresh marketing game plan.
