Swear Allegiance Out Loud: Monarch King Charles Asks Subjects to Cry Out “Your Majesty”
Ever since Queen Elizabeth’s sad demise, her heir, King Charles has taken over the institutional proceedings of the Palace. Having done so, the soon-to-be monarch has also introduced a slew of new rules and regulations of his own, although keeping the traditions intact as before. Nonetheless, his own version of alterations to the coronation service has been quite noticeable to the spectators. In fact, after having his ways with the firm, the new King has got something to ask for from the public too.

As we approach May 6, Buckingham Palace has unveiled some new plans added to the agenda. The breaking news topped the headlines of almost all major publications of the United Nations. People’s Sunday Special reported that the nation is urged to join the chant for Charles on his big day. This time, not only the royal family and friends but the common public is also invited to rejoice in the King’s special occasion.
The Palace has invited the subjects across the Kingdom and around the globe to join a “chorus of millions” where they will together swear their allegiance to the King and his heirs. According to the Independent, Lambeth Palace has stated that they anticipate a great loud cry around the nation in support of the King. During the service ceremony, the Archbishop of Canterbury will call on everyone in the Abbey to “make their homage, in heart and voice, to their undoubted King, defender of all”.

The ones present in the 11th-century church will cry in unison, “I swear that I will pay true allegiance to Your Majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God”. This comes after a special initiative launched by the King.

The initiative, ‘Homage to Public’ comes as a “historic break of centuries of traditions”. The King has thus made his coronation, the people’s coronation. Earlier, only members of the aristocracy were obliged to pledge their allegiance. This has been the ongoing tradition for generations down the line until Queen Elizabeth II.

Earlier, he had also made some modifications to the coronation procession routes and couches. Straying off the usual route, the King has chosen a much shorter path for his to-and-fro procession. The addition of the Silver Jubilee coach was also an alteration by the King on his part.
