What do we know of Princess Lilibet?
The Sussexes welcomed their first daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, on June 4, 2021, after the couple’s first child, son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, on May 9, 2019. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose their daughter’s name for its family connection and significance. Lilibet is the nickname of her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II. She was often called that by family members and in her private letters. Her middle name, Diana, is a precious memorandum of Prince Harry’s mother, Diana, the Princess of Wales.
Earlier this year, Lilibet was christened in the Episcopal Church, a province in the Anglican Communion. The private ceremony took place at her parent’s home on 3 March 2023 by John H. Taylor, the Bishop of Los Angeles. Upon the accession of King Charles III, following the death of the children’s grandmother in September 2022, Lilibet received the title of Princess, while her brother Archie, five, became a Prince.
