Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s relationship has never escaped the prying eyes of critics. There are tons of opinions floating around the web about how the Sussexes are faring in their marital bond. However, only a handful of them holds any water, while the rest are just juicy rumors. If one truly wants to understand the dynamics between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, there is no better source than a long-time acquaintance of the Duchess who has been a witness to this relationship from the very outset.

The acquaintance and close friend in question is one of Meghan Markle’s Suits co-stars, who still holds a special place in her heart. 

Since 2023, a wave of rumors about the Sussexes’ alleged split led to numerous social media debates. Many insiders and royal pundits had taken the opportunity to weigh in on the discourse as well. After months of speculations, Meghan Markle's on-screen dad, Wendell Pierce, has now come to her defense. In his latest interview with PEOPLE, the Suits actor opened up about his meeting with the couple, where the Sussexes appeared "very much in love and were very happy".  

This encounter took place when Markle visited town to receive an award last year, giving Pierce a chance to reunite with his former Suits co-star, now the Duchess of Sussex. The 60-year-old further revealed that he has met Markle a couple of times since then. Pierce also shared his thoughts on the resurgence of Suits on streaming platforms during his interview at the 2024 Tony Awards.

Like all the other cast members, including Meghan Markle, Wendell Pierce found the record-breaking streaming performance of Suits unexpected. 

Last year, at Variety's Power of Women event, Meghan Markle shared how "wild" the renewed love for Suits she found. Wendell Pierce’s response to it was no different. In his interview with PEOPLE, the actor revealed that the resurgence of the legal drama was a "surprise" to him. “We finished the show almost eight years ago, and so to have this resurgence is pretty amazing,” said The Wire star. 

Earlier, Pierce had also told E! News how the fact that Markle would “love to act again” deeply “bothers” him. However, it seems unlikely that Markle would pursue anything beyond documentaries and cooking shows in the entertainment arena. Nonetheless, for now, it is clear that things are still going strong between the Sussexes.
