David Harbour, a key member of the ensemble, has now validated the suspicions that fans harbored about the conclusion of Black Widow. During a recent podcast interview, the Stranger Things actor confirmed the reservations fans held about the film’s climax.

Out of all the unfortunate events that could befall a Marvel movie, they all seemed to converge upon Black Widow. The pandemic’s impact, the unique release format, and the challenge of it being a prequel for a character who met her end in Avengers: Endgame—these factors cast a shadow over it. The weight of CGI in the climax added to the film’s complexity. During his discussion on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Harbour unveiled a revealing tidbit: “entire third act was reworked as we shooting.” 

The star of Grand Turismo went a step further and revealed that Marvel has plans to rework Black Widow. The last act, which stood apart from the rest of the film by avoiding superpowers and high-tech suits, left audiences underwhelmed. This approach has now become a signature of the current MCU, blending realism with the extraordinary.

Reports suggest that Marvel deliberately hires directors without extensive VFX experience, aiming to retain their creative influence. After revealing that the studio is changing it up, in the context of Thunderbolts, this new revelation from Harbour comes with newfound madness.

The challenges for Black Widow didn’t stop at that point. The lead actress, Scarlett Johansson, faced her own legal battles concerning the movie.
