‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ‘The Terminator’ Franchise Are Going to Have This Huge Thing in Common
If there is one show that has benefitted from its obsession with the 90s and innumerable references to the decade, it is Stranger Things. Not only is the show set up in the 1980s, but it also uses music, movies, and most importantly, actors from time to time. While one could applaud the Duffer Brothers for their masterful storytelling and the elements they incorporate to make it as real as possible, these frequent takeaways from the 1980s cinematic universe also help Stranger Things blur the line between age demographics. Akin to how The Terminator emerged as the Statue of Liberty for the science fiction genre.
High-tech experiments are not the only thing the Netflix flagship series is taking from The Terminator as it approaches its final season. With only one last blow to nail, the Duffer Brothers have once again dipped their hands in the 1980s bag of surprises. And this time it will bring to the series a paradigm-shifting change.
