During his interview with WWD, the Free Guy star talked about his character, Gator Tillman, in season 5. The American actor revealed he joined the team because of his respect for the creator, Noah Hawley. Keery revealed his character in the series would be deeply conflicted. Additionally, he said, “At the core there are major daddy issues.”

He loves the show because it is a dark comedy and the way Hawley presented the concept is compelling to him. Therefore, the 31-year-old actor also wanted to put in his 100% to justify his character. Talking more about his role, he also added how he and Jon Hamm learned hockey to create the father-son bond. This process and the entire journey taught him a lot, as Keery admitted in the interview.

Fargo season 5 is set in 2019 and introduces the viewers to Dorothy “Dot” Lyon. She is a North Dakota housewife who has a secret that makes her the wanted person, eventually. Keery is the son of the local police (Jon Hamm) who has been searching for Dot for a long time. While everyone is excited to see Joe Keery in a new light, the actor himself is also excited to start the new chapter of his career.
