And as the news of a Peaky Blinders movie being in the making surfaced in the headlines, fans started anticipating Murphy stepping into the shoes of his defining role once again. However, due to all the hiccups created by the Hollywood strikes, there was a long silence on the production updates. Well, until now.

The creator of Peaky Blinders has recently shared some exciting updates about the upcoming movie and also revealed Cillian Murphy’s thoughts about it. 

Steven Knight recently sat for an interview with NME to promote his new BBC show This Town. During the interview, the filmmaker shared interesting details about the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, which has been the talk of the town for a minute. When asked how far advanced he was in its production, Knight declared “It’s gonna happen this September”. The 65-year-old writer shared that he is currently adding the final flourishes to the script, a task that will extend right up until the eve of shooting.

Talking about whether Cillian Murphy would reprise his role as Birmingham gang leader Tommy Shelby, Kight stated “Cillian is really up for it”. He also expressed his pride for the actor winning his first Oscar this year. Apparently, Murphy, soon after winning his Oscar, texted Knight and said, “I really can’t wait to be doing Peaky”. But this was something the filmmaker had already spilled last month in one his interviews.

Steven Knight has also dropped hints here and there about the potential storyline the movie will likely follow.

In an interview with BirminghamWorld, Steven Knight touched on the plot of the movie. The creator and writer of the Peaky Blinders franchise hinted that the movie will “carry on the family and the stories into the Second World War”. He further shed light on Murphy's characters that the fandom is extremely excited about.

Talking about Cillian Murphy’s character, Knight revealed “Peaky – in this incarnation – comes to an end”. Later, in an interview with Esquire, the producer further spilled that new generation which the season six of the series bought in will be part of what unfolds in the upcoming film. While Murphy has six projects on his plate, the Peaky Blinders' movie remains the highly anticipated one.
