“Spare Could Be Spared”-Prince Harry Opened Up How He Was Aware of His Place

Prince Harry and his shenanigans are endless, but so is the royal family’s inequity with the spares of the family. Right from the times of Princess Margaret to the brothers of King Charles and now Prince Harry, this long-standing norm with the palace risked various relationships in the past and in the present as well. However, the Duke just decided to be vocal about the same. Long before parting ways with the royal family, King Charles’ youngest has always found himself to be the odd one out. 

Adding to it the partiality of the members between him and his elder brother, Prince William which further catalysed the drifting apart. As has iterated in various instances, Prince Harry took to his record-breaking memoir to give more details about his indifference to the monarchy. In one of his excerpts, he opened up about how he felt neglected at times.

As reported by Hello Magazine, the Prince outlined in his memoir how Prince William was always the priority. Citing some royal norms, he wrote, “Pa and William could never be on the same flight together.” The reason being obvious that they cannot risk two heirs to the throne at the same time. However, whenever Prince Harry had to take a flight, “no one gave a damn whom I traveled with”.

That is where he outlined, “The spare could always be spare“. And although it wretched his heart, he was not surprised. “I knew this, knew my place”. The same also somewhat reflected in the education they received and chose to go forward with.

The Duke has been extremely grateful for the type of education he has received. For the initial years, both the brothers studied in the same school. They even graduated from Eton as well. However, as Prince William chose to pack his bag for the university, Prince Harry chose otherwise. The future king, however, did a 44-week training stint at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst after he graduated from St. Andrews University.

Having completed college, he enlisted in the royal army as he undertook various missions and tours with his regime. Having served the tours of Afghanistan, enlists as one of the biggest accomplishments of the Duke. Despite him wanting to join the war, Prince William was barred from going into war.
