Last Christmas, Sydney Sweeney made her case to bring back rom-com with her stellar acting in Anyone but You opposite Glen Powell. The romantic comedy took the generation back to the comfort of guilty pleasure with the tale of a modern-age love story. Despite not cracking the big guns for the opening weekend, the flick has emerged as the highest-grossing R-rated rom-com in a decade. As for now, the biggest sleeper success of the box office is teasing its touchdown to digitals with some behind-the-scene glimpses.

Not only the rom-com era is now coming back to the fingertips with the biggest stay-at-home hit, but the day is not as far as one would expect.

Hollywood might not have had its display of the rom-com genre for some time. However, when Sydney Sweeney came out with her Christmas release, the world got its reminder of why rom-coms remain at the zenith of closet favorite. Now the official Instagram handle of the movie has announced its availability digitally from tomorrow, February 20th, with the cheekiest caption “So close you can almost taste it”. Not only this, but the digital release will also include extras that will be only available for selective online retailers.

The extras would include outtakes, bloopers, deleted scenes, and interviews, which the reel already gave a sneak peek of. Jumping on the bandwagon of rear-end banters, from Sweeney peaking at Powell’s “a**ho*e” to Darren Barnet’s admiring that same “a**”, the teasers came in to remind the audience what they were missing out on. Anyhow, the wait is no longer a cause for bypassing since rom-coms are coming back, with hardly any distance away from the first click.

When Will Gluck’s Anyone but You came to the theatres as a Christmas release, the ship did not fare as well as one might have expected. Eventually, however, the film began to pace at a meteoric ascent, ultimately becoming the highest-grossing rom-com film of the decade. The frenzy reached such a height that despite its $25 million budget, it managed to crack an extended theatrical run, grossing up to $189 million worldwide.

Surprisingly, unlike critics, the film has sat well with audiences across the globe. As a result, even without garnering the best reviews, the flick has a high rate of approval from the fans. Based on Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, it is also currently the highest-grossing live-action Shakespearian adaptation in the world. As the movie now journeys to the comfort seat of every household, chances are that the traffic will henceforth amplify.
