One of the highly anticipated rom-coms this year has to be Anyone But You, featuring Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney and Top Gun Mavericks Glen Powell. While the movie is all set to release later this year, it has already generated a lot of buzz, all thanks to The White Lotus actress and Powell’s chemistry. The movie will be based on the modern adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. This has indeed added to the eagerness to how it will be adapted on the big screen.

Since its announcement earlier this year, fans have been hooked on the latest developments around the film, And now, the first look is officially out, being the perfect cherry on the cake. 

Anyone But You creates a frenzy among viewers

Sony Pictures recently released the first look at the highly anticipated Anyone But You. Sweeney was wearing a stylish blue satin gown, while Powell, clad in a white suit, smiling at the Euphoria actress. In the movie, two former college classmates Bea and Ben, who hate each other, are forced to be a part of their friend’s wedding. Enter their exes, they are then forced to pretend to be a couple. And from there, they both embark on their romantic journey, just like any other rom-com.

Earlier this year at CinemaCon, the stars teased the audience and revealed a lot about the dynamics of their characters. Powell joked that Sweeney’s Bea is “a real nightmare” and his Ben is “a real a**hole.” Furthermore, this film is about two people who hate each other. Apart from this, Sweeney’s forthcoming projects include Marvel’s Madame Web and Echo Valley. Powell’s future films include Twisters and Most Dangerous Game.

While moviegoers are overjoyed with the first look, they are more thrilled about the filmmaker, Will Gluck, who has a track record of creating fantastic rom-coms.

Will Gluck’s expertise meets Sweeney’s and Powell’s prowess

The film, directed by Will Gluck, appears to be garnering interest among movie buffs due to its fascinating aspects. Gluck is best known for directing well-received romantic comedy films, such as Friends with Benefits. The movie’s story is the brainchild of Ilana Wolpert, with a perfect blend of romance and humor in the plot. 

Besides this, the involvement of Sweeny is particularly noteworthy in the film’s plot. The film will be releasing in theaters on December 12th. It will be interesting to see if it can capture the same magic on the big screen that it has in these early conversations.
