However, things got completely chaotic at the 2022 Met Gala event when Kim showed up in the outfit of the 50s icon. 

The SKIMS owner caused quite a stir by opting for a Marylin Monroe gown at the 2022 event. Almost two years after the fiasco, her sister Kylie Jenner had her own Marilyn Monroe moment in Paris.

Amidst the popularity of Netflix’s The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes, Kim Kardashian decided to go with the dress of the 50s actress. However, she received a lot of backlash for ruining the historical article just to stand out at the Galas. Recently, Kylie Jenner flaunted a similar sparkling keyhole gown at the Paris Fashion Week. The 26-year-old attended the Schiaparelli’s Paris Fashion Week show on Thursday, flaunting her body-hugging gown.

She showed up at the event to watch her sister, Kendall Jenner, walk the runway. The Kylie Cosmetics owner shared a clip from the event that has been blowing up the internet. She captioned the post saying, “f–king show time !!!”, something she was also mentioning in the clip. The post instantly caused a stir on the internet and fans started to flood her comment section with comparisons between Jenner and Kardashian. 

While fans are still not over their rage for Kim, the fashion mogul reportedly speculated about the controversy even before she stepped onto the 2022 Met Gala. 

Kim Kardashian saw the outrage coming 

The dress that Kim wore at the 2022 Galas held a historical significance for all Americans, not only because it belonged to the late actress Monroe, but also because she wore the dress on an important day. The dress was infamous for the ‘Happy Birthday’ song that Monroe sang for then-president John. F. Kennedy in 1962 at the Madison Square Garden. On the 2nd season of The Kardashians, Kim talked about her nervousness about stepping into Monroe’s dress.

While she was in the early stages of her 15-hour hair appointment to emulate Monroe’s signature hair, Kardashian shared that people might hate her for the choice she was making. The 42-year-old then talked about how people might go, “How dare she think she can step into Marilyn’s dress?” She also expressed her anxiety over losing a stone from the dress that could cost her millions of dollars. But criticism aside, she certainly dazzled everyone that night.
