Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, the ultimate cross pollination of royalty and Hollywood, were at one point the shiniest badges that the United Kingdom had. However, as the years have been less than kind to the couple, with now even the United States drawing its hands back to accept them as their own, a reminder of just how much influence the couple held was clear by the strategies adapted by the Buckingham palace to stop them.
While the Palace and the family that resides in it may have called it quits with the Sussexes now, at one point they were so desperate to get them to stay back, that they scouted one of Britain's most politically influential person to talk to them.

King Charles and Prince William, along with the rest of the family, may have started intensive training to maintain their stiff upper lip now, but before the curtains fell down on the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry chapter, the Windsors went above and beyond to get the Sussexes to stay. This became evident as Borris Johnson, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, revealed in his memoir, Unleashed, that he was asked by the royal family to talk Prince Harry out of it.

Johnson's revelation, at a time when Donald Trump's son has labeled the Sussexes as the bad apples, is beyond shocking. While Johnson mentions his role in the entire Megxit debacle, it is unclear whether the royal family made any efforts on its own to stop the Megxit from unfolding.
Despite the strategic and desperate pleas to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry back then, the royal family seems to be on a whole different page now.

For all their efforts to recruit even the former President of the United Kingdom to persuade Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to stay back, the British royal family allegedly does not hold the same sentiments anymore. From getting seemingly agitated over the 'pseudoroyal' trips that the couple has been taking to avoiding any clashes with each other, the last thread already seems to be broken.

Not only does the British royal family seem to have turned the page, but the relationship between the Sussexes and them is so strained now, that even Prince Harry's royal comeback with Markle out of the question seems impossible. Perhaps this time around, the Sussexes can scout a political heavyweight.
