Over the past two years since Season 2 wrapped up, many of Euphoria's stars have become big names in Hollywood. According to one of the actors, who spoke anonymously to The Daily Beast, the chances of Season 3 seem slim, and the hiatus between seasons has been nothing but "frustrating". They shared how HBO kept pushing back the start date, shifting from March to June and finally to January since January 2022. Allegedly, this also had the cast tied down and unable to take on new projects.
HBO did not say much more than what they already did about Season 3's release, but Sam Levinson's team assured The Daily Beast that HBO confirmed a third season for 2025 as planned. This update came after Deadline revealed that the drama series would be put on ice longer than fans anticipated, and actors involved have been given the green light to pursue other projects. The reasons behind this delay have been brought to light as well. Euphoria has always raised eyebrows with its controversial themes.
This time, however, creator Sam Levinson has got a brilliant move to scale back on the show's exploration of edgy subjects.

Bright and early on March 25th, HBO dropped a bombshell to Variety, swearing they were in it for the long haul with Sam Levinson to make "an exceptional third season". However, they hit the pause button on production soon after. As per TheWrap, Levinson is steering the narrative from high school to the early adult years, and HBO is giving him some elbow room to finesse the storyline.
Making the characters older will likely make it easier to handle the show's risky themes. Some rumors even say the scripts are still being written. However, it is important to note that in the past, HBO also hesitated to announce the cancellation of The Idol after its flop first season, despite the rumors about Levinson’s risqué music-industry drama being on point. Even so, with the tweaks aimed at making Euphoria resonate with a broader audience, being patient might just pay off.
