In Hollywood, history is made every now and then, but who lands on which side of history is up to destiny. A year ago, when the spectators of showbiz were busy anticipating Blake Lively’s comeback on the screens after years of creative hiatus, little did the fans know it would soon land her in the hot water of legal challenges. But now that it has, award season predictions have taken a backseat, and all that is left is the intense scrutiny of the It Ends With Us star and director, Justin Baldoni, whose lawsuit claims surfaced with a viral behind-the-scenes clip with Lively.

While the actors have opened up about their creative differences and complaints variably, an intimacy coordinator weighed in on the clip to highlight Lively’s visible awkwardness.

Justin Baldoni’s legal team recently provided a slow-dance behind-the-scenes video from It Ends With Us to The Daily Mail to counter key allegations made by Blake Lively. Baldoni filed his own complaint last week, seeking a whopping $400 million in damages. In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Mia Schachter, an intimacy coordinator in Hollywood, opened up about the 10-minute video shot in May 2023, revealing how the scenes translate to her as if “she is trapped” while talking of Lively.

From what Schachter observed, it was clear as daylight that Lively and Baldoni did not discuss the kiss prior to the shot, visible from her constant pulling back. When asked whether the discussion is a norm, Schachter revealed that it is, in the case of intimacy coordinators. However, since the professionals are brought primarily because of steamy scenes or nudity, their presence during a kiss may not be absolute. Yet, if they show up, anything undiscussed before remains off the table.

As for the power dynamics between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, Mia Schachter highlighted what she saw as a clear struggle.

In her recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Mia Schachter, who has worked as an intimacy coordinator on American Crime Story and Insecure, shared her thoughts on the dynamics between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni in the It Ends With Us scene. Although she acknowledged the Gossip Girl alum as a star with high regard, recognizing she would not lose out on her job if she were to speak her mind, she saw Lively adjusting to the tense atmosphere.

According to the professional, she felt Lively was trying not to upset Baldoni or anyone, as a matter of fact, so that the project kept going. But it does not take a rocket scientist to see her sheer discomfort in her efforts to appease him while “trying to keep a smile on her face.” Despite her superstardom, Schachter believes Baldoni was in charge “in terms of the hierarchy on a set.” Interestingly, Schachter was surprised by their decision to use this clip in their ongoing lawsuit, as she actually sees it strengthening the opposing side’s case.
