Suits was the show that really put Meghan Markle on the map. Her portrayal of Rachel Zane is still firmly planted in fans’ memories, and with the show's resurgence on streaming platforms last year, the hype about her iconic role only grew further. But apart from her character, it was also her chemistry with Patrick J. Adams, who played her on-screen boyfriend Mike Ross, that drew many fans to the show. In fact, the legal drama experienced a noticeable drop in viewership after the two stars departed from the legal drama the same year.

Adams recently shared his thoughts on why their chemistry was so electric from the start, while also praising his now-royal co-star's talent.

Patrick J. Adams recently opened up about his experiences with Meghan Markle from her time on Suits on an episode of SiriusXM's Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast. As the first actor to join Suits, Adams was tasked with conducting chemistry read-throughs with actresses auditioning for Rachel Zane's role. Looking back on his audition with Markle, Adams stated, "She crushed it". He added, "She crushes it in the show".

Adams recalled that when he went in for the chemistry reads with Rachel, Markle was right there. The two actors immediately recognized each other from their work on the 2008 crime comedy pilot Good Behavior. This prior connection made the chemistry test feel even more natural. "It was just so much easier than it was with anybody else,” added the 43-year-old. While Adams spoke highly of his Suits co-star, showrunner Aaron Korsh is currently fully committed to the show's reboot.
