The news of a live-action adaptation of the Disney movie Tangled has been doing the rounds since 2022. But with no confirmation from the makers’ end, leading to an assumption that the project is scrapped. However, the recent swirl of rumors sparked hope among fairy tale enthusiasts once again, giving rise to various fan theories and speculations. One such speculation is that Florence Pugh will play the titular character in the classic. 

This rumor invited an interesting reaction from Zachary Levi, who voice-acted for the role of Flynn Rider in the 2010 animated feature film. The Shazam actor is himself rumored to reprise his role in the upcoming live-action flick and has an interesting reason to play this part!

Shazam actor has an interesting reason to pair up with Florence Pugh in Tangled

The 42-year-old actor expressed his desire to be a part of the rumored live-action adaptation when speaking at the 2023 Fan Expo in Chicago. He addressed the rumor of Florence Pugh being a part of the franchise, which has further sparked excitement in his heart. He said, “And If Florence plays Rapunzel, what about me?” However, this excitement had nothing to do with the Little Women actress’ charm, but with the same surname they share.

Levi wants to play Flynn Rider in the latest adaptation alongside the 27-year-old actress because they share the same last name. Since Levi’s real last name is Pugh, he thinks that would give the movie a cool spin as fans will “have [makes pew-pew noise] in Tangled”. 

Only time will tell if fans can actually get to see this “pew-pew” magic considering the hurdles of SAG-AFTRA strikes. However, is the live-adaptation actually coming in?

Although fans are waiting with bated eyes for a live-action adaptation of this Oscar-nominated movie, it is a moonshot. Even if the strikes wrap up by next year, all that exists are just rumors and speculations, which are enough to serve some hope to the fans ahead of the ongoing double strike in Hollywood.  

So far, Pugh is the only actor likely to star in the rumored project. However, there hasn’t been any confirmation yet. Levi and Pugh’s pair could be a good choice owing to how well their appearances will fit in with the characters. And also, because of the unusual reason laid out by the former Flynn Rider in his recent interview. Well, owing to the popular disapproval of the Shazam actor starring in the adaptation, he might actually find himself getting pew-pewed by the fans.
