Shawn Levy Finally Opens About the Outrageous ‘Deadpool 3′ Casting Rumors Including Daniel Radcliffe and Others

The production delays owing to the SAG-AFTRA strike made the Deadpool fandom very restless. Though the film is scheduled for a release on May 3, 2024, the chances of it getting postponed because of the strikes are high. Despite the shooting being halted, the internet buzzes with a new trending rumor regarding cast additions to the upcoming Deadpool installment every other day. From Taylor Swift to Ben Affleck, the rumors and speculations pulled everyone under its covers. 

While Marvel enthusiasts are scratching their heads about which rumor to trust, the hype surrounding the movie has actually been working in the film’s favor. During a recent interview, director Shawn Levy finally broke his silence and addressed the outrageous casting rumors.

Levy, who recently became the butt of Ryan Reynolds jokes after his win at the ongoing Toronto Film Festival, gave an interview at the same event. In the interview with EW, he addressed the casting rumors, including Jennifer Garner returning as Elektra and Daniel Radcliffe featuring for a secret role. The Academy Award-winning filmmaker admitted to being aware of all the speculations but he would “rather not weigh in on that.” The 55-year-old further went on to say that he thinks the online speculations are “fabulous.” 

Continuing with the discussion, the director expressed his amusement with fan theories and said only if he formed his decisions according to netizens, he would have had the best ensemble for his movie. However, he ended the talk with a little tease, saying, “Some of those rumors are true, and some of them aren’t”. While there has not been any solid confirmation on who among the rumored actors is actually joining the franchise, the makers’ commitment to focus on comic accuracy is further building anticipation among fans.

Despite being a part of the Wolverine movies for almost two decades, fans never saw Jackman in his superhero costume. The yellow-blue suit of the clawed mutant will be making its debut in the Deadpool franchise along with the Logan actor. While the makers wanted to keep it a surprise, leaked pictures from Deadpool 3’s sets spilled the beans. Nevertheless, owing to the positive response of fans, Levy felt relieved that they aced the accuracy of Wolverine’s suit.

During the interview at the Toronto Film Festival, the filmmaker talked about how they left no stone unturned to give the Marvel buffs an authentic cinematic experience. He told the publication that the crew gave it their all to “get the old yellow and blue just…right.” The Stranger Things executive producer also revealed that this could be the last appearance of Jackman as the X-Men mutant. Therefore, he wants to portray the actor, who has been a part of MCU since the 2000s, in the best way possible.
