76-Year-Old Arnold Schwarzenegger Asks People to Laugh at Themselves in His Latest Dose of Motivation
In his countless outings as the action superstar of the 80s Hollywood, Arnold Schwarzenegger had shown what it was to stand tall in the face of adversity. Amidst rolling gusts of smoke brought over by explosions, the high-octane action in his movies never failed to impress. However, in his flicks, he was reasonable enough to balance the grit with some comic relief. From one-liners in The Terminator to hilarity in Kindergarten Cop, the star showed how important it was to balance emotions.
Now, decades after those hits hit the screen, Schwarzenegger is asking people to do the same thing all over again. In short, being too serious is precisely what he does not want.

The star who has long sailed as the face of the cyborg T-800, seriousness could well be his forte. Yet, sharing his appearance on WTF with Marc Maron, the 76-year-old legend asked his fans and followers to “Learn to laugh at yourself.” Moreover, in the podcast, Schwarzenegger himself shared light-hearted moments with Maron to emphasize the fact. “I always thought I was funny…,” said the actor who embraced this trait most recently in Netflix’s action-comedy FUBAR.
He also went on to share his experience of standing “all oiled up” in front of a large crowd to proclaim that he was “the most muscular man in the world”. In an apparent jibe at his bodybuilding days, the former bodybuilder recalled feeling “stupid” yet being able to laugh at it and shrug it off. It is this message that he hopes to inculcate among all – the act to stop taking everything too seriously.
Despite being the funny one in the room, Schwarzenegger has had to deal with some very serious and confrontational moments in his life.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has seen many light-hearted and equally serious moments in his lifetime. From poking fun-spirited jibes at Bruce Willis to hot-headedness with Sylvester Stallone, he has had it all. Yet, none of this could have prepared him for what he admitted was the biggest “f*ck up” of his life. In 2011, The Expendables star opened up to his then-wife, Maria Shriver, about having a child out of wedlock.
The revelation “shattered” Shriver, who then took several measures to try to heal. However, the damage was done, and the couple headed for divorce. In his Netflix documentary, Arnold, the star, admitted to his mistake. “I think that I have caused enough pain for my family because of my f— up,” he claimed. Yet, despite the fallout, the duo still maintain cordial relations.
