Hollywood is renowned as the destination for actors chasing their dreams. But anyone who has spent enough time navigating the ups and downs of Tinseltown knows it is just as much as a place where dreams can crumble. Sebastian Stan recently attended the screening of The Apprentice with director Ali Abbasi to reflect on the amount of heartfelt reception the movie has got from big-impact filmmakers, actors, and producers. In fact, Stan revealed he was extended an invitation to Variety Studio: Actors on Actors interview this year. However, he had to call a skip on it because Stan “couldn’t find an actor” to do it with him because they were allegedly “too afraid” to talk about his movie.
Stan clarified that his confession was not about pointing fingers at anybody, but admitting how they could not get through any actor’s publicist, which made them realize they were probably set to “lose the situation.” The actor stressed the artists’ “fear” and “discomfort” will ultimately become the biggest fork in The Apprentice’s reception because the collective decision to avoid the conversation is a spell for disaster, stripping cinema of its role as a representative art form.
While Stan’s revelation gives the world of cinema hefty to ponder about, the actor’s press bites for The Apprentice reemphasize cinema’s actual role in mass decision-making.
