‘Saturday Night Live’: Scarlett Johansson Has the Internet Wheezing, as Colin Jost and Michael Che Do Their Annual Joke Swap for Christmas
Colin Jost and Michael Che are at it again. The Saturday Night Live duo recently revived their favorite tradition- swapping jokes on Weekend Update. But this time, the star of their shenanigans was Scarlett Johansson—aka Jost’s better half. The MCU icon popped by as a guest during the final Saturday Night Live episode of the year, and it is safe to say that the duo pulled out all the stops to top their previous efforts.
One would think Johansson, being married to a guy who lives for daring comedy, would have seen this coming. But it seemed, even the seasoned actress was not ready for the roasting that awaited her.

On the latest Weekend Update, Colin Jost had the unenviable task of reading jokes about his own wife while she watched from backstage. Scarlett Johansson looked visibly terrified as Jost opened with a sweet and suspiciously ominous dedication to “my boo, Scarlett Johansson.” What followed was a whirlwind of jokes—some risqué, some borderline outrageous, and all very unhinged. Naturally, Michael Che was the evil mastermind behind them.
The camera kept cutting to Johansson’s reactions, which ranged from stunned to ‘how-is-this-my-life-right-now’ levels of disbelief. But Che, being Che, did not let up. For the final joke, he had Jost circle back to Johansson, who was still watching the chaos unfold. This time, the joke involved a “roast beef” punchline that sent the room—and Johansson—into fits of laughter, with just a hint of mortification. By the end of it, Jost and Johansson were both red-faced, proving once again that no one is safe when Michael Che is around.
Scarlett Johansson has spoken about her husband’s Weekend Update segment before, and how nerve-racking she finds it.
Scarlett Johansson is not a big fan of Weekend Update
Scarlett Johansson appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show this year and revealed just how terrified she gets during the infamous Weekend Update. “I black out for that period of the night. I actually don’t remember it,” said the 40-year-old actress. The chat also highlighted how the Lost in Translation star often becomes the subject of his jokes.

Earlier this year, Colin Jost made a controversial joke on the AI voice assistant scandal of his wife. He has also forcefully trolled his wife for playing specific roles, like a Japanese character. “I feel like every year it gets worse. It’s just terrible,” Johansson told Clarkson. Nonetheless, Johansson’s guest appearance on the Weekend Update and her dumbfounded reactions did make the show extra-special and hilarious.
