SAG-AFTRA ensures everything remains in control during festivities amidst the ongoing strike. The union of actors has been protesting on the pickets for over three months now. But no matter how hard they tried, nothing has worked so far. Only days back, union members and production houses sat down to talk about the renewal of the agreement, which went in vain. Also, the end of the WGA strike has only increased the pressure on them to resolve things because people have a livelihood to earn.

After singing ‘The Point of No Return’ a few days back outside Netflix’s building in LA, the protesters are back again with another tactic. And now, the union has decided to scare their opponents on Halloween. Gear up anime fans, this might be the best season for you to get some new costume inspiration.

SAG-AFTRA Strike recently shared some guidelines on how union members should celebrate Halloween. The committee has approved costumes for performing strikers but with a twist. They want members to celebrate the day “while also staying in solidarity” with the strike. This means actors cannot wear any costumes from recent blockbuster movies like Barbie and Oppenheimer. Instead, they can choose to wear costumes inspired by characters and figures like ghosts, zombies, spiders, and much more.

“Dress up as characters from non-struck content, like an animated TV show,” suggested SAG-AFTRA. Also, they have asked actors to avoid sharing photos of costumes that feature movies and shows on social media. Through this Halloween move, the union wants to send out a loud message to the AMPTP who left the negotiating table last week. So they want the struck companies to know that without a fair contract, actors will not promote their content in any way.

This news has come only days after the protestors gathered in front of Netflix’s studio, which showed they will not back out.

The union surrounded Netflix studio singing ‘The Point of No Return’

On October 12, SAG-AFTRA members took the internet by storm with bizarre outrage. It showed how the striking people found a new way to convince studios. After the AMPTP did not settle down the deal, they walked to the Netflix studios and sang ‘The Point of No Return’ from The Phantom of the Opera. This song marks the turning point for the characters where they acknowledge they cannot go back and must face the consequences.

Likewise, the protestors found this song perfectly fitting their condition and did not hesitate to start the show in front of the studio. In addition to the streaming giant, some actors also rallied around the Disney studio. Now they have this Halloween strategy to avoid promoting their content. Well, only time will tell if these things would affect the opponent parties or not.
