Ryan Reynolds Takes a Justin Baldoni-Sized Swipe Amidst Dispute, Questioning the Grounds of Suing

The It Ends With Us controversy has been all-consuming, especially for the ‘It’ couple, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Despite some A-list friendships already on the rocks and the constant bickering around the subject, Lively and Reynolds are still the talk of the town—just not for the best reasons. While a certain couple lies low because of all the scrutiny, the Green Lantern stars are certainly not the one. Amidst the rising tension, Reynolds has taken an unexpected stance with a jab for Justin Baldoni.
Reynolds recently proceeded to question the merits of Baldoni’s claims against him, and it is safe to say, the conflict did not exactly de-escalate.

According to the latest The Hollywood Reporter report, Ryan Reynolds, who was held responsible for mocking Justin Baldoni in the Nicepool segment of Deadpool & Wolverine, reportedly asked a court on Tuesday to dismiss the claims. In a motion to dismiss, the Deadpool actor did not counter that Nicepool is based on the It Ends With Us director. However, he said Baldoni showed “thick-skinned outrage” by airing grievances, citing the latter cannot sue over “hurt feelings.”

It all started with Blake Lively until Baldoni took the matter to court, counter-suing her and Reynolds for berating him by calling him a “se---- predator” and pressuring WME to drop him. Soon, the contentions touched down on Reynolds’ Marvel family. However, as per the recent reports, Reynolds’ lawyers have argued, that it is not defamation when the actor believes it. “While Mr. Baldoni ‘may not appreciate being called’ a predator, those hurt feelings do not give rise to le--- claims,” the motion states.
That said, Ryan Reynolds’ motion to dismiss additionally highlights inadequacies in many aspects.

As per The Hollywood Reporter's new report, citing Ryan Reynolds’ motion to dismiss, the actor and his lawyers argue that the former’s remarks are more of an opinion than fact. Moreover, they lack specifics like the "substance, date, and context." They reportedly held the director’s confessions on a podcast of having crossed “boundaries” as a youngster because of his excessive adult content consumption, believing it would be deviant if Baldoni gets to build an entire brand “off of his confessions of repeatedly mistreating women, only to turn around and sue Mr. Reynolds.”

Reynolds’ team has taken a stand, saying the Canadian star has only highlighted in private “what Mr. Baldoni has bragged about in public.” In fact, they also took a swipe at the other party for trying to pull the Deadpool actor down just because he showed enough confidence in her confiding as husband and wife. Though it remains to be seen what twists and turns await Reynolds and Blake Lively henceforth, it certainly does not seem to be near an end.
