Wrexham AFC, one of the world’s oldest football clubs is going to see some fresh faces this month. With the summer transfer window opening, fans are eager to see some impressive new signees. Especially, since its Hollywood makeover in the guise of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, supporters have high expectations for the institution.

Amidst all the excitement comes a move that has added further strength to the club’s defensive side. Wrexham AFC announced that they have officially acquired a notable defender from Huddersfield Town. Will Boyle, the England born center-back, has officially signed a three-year deal with the club. Undoubtedly, the deal comes as a monumental milestone for the Cheltenham Town defender and Wrexham alike.

In the player’s first interview posted to Wrexham’s Youtube channel, he displayed an infectious enthusiasm towards beginning his journey with the club owned by the quirky Deadpool actor. He sent a message to all Wrexham fans, saying “I’m delighted to be here.. to be honest, I’m buzzing to be a part of it and I can’t wait to see what this season will bring.”

Boyle’s talent speaks volumes through his command over the field. His unerring performance even helped his previous team snag a nomination for the PFA Team of the Year award. But what made this player the right choice for the club in lieu of the upcoming season?

Phil Parkinson on why Wrexham AFC chose the left-footed defender

Manager, Phil Parkinson was all praises for the 27-year-old in his statement posted on their website, saying “Will is a strong addition to the squad.”  While speaking on the influences that led to this decision he added, “He’s had success in this division before..”  His statement also reveals that the new signee will also be joining the team on their upcoming tour of America. The sentiment is shared by Boyle it seems, as seen in both of his interviews with the club.

In another video posted to the club’s Youtube channel, the player is seen in a behind-the-scenes at the SToK Racecourse. As he strolled around the stadium, he shared his excitement to be “getting to know the rest of the lads and seeing what they’re about.”
