Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have done the spadework for Deadpool & Wolverine and all that awaits now is a theatrical release. However, while kitting himself out for the cinematic thrill, Reynolds revealed a bombshell comic book opinion that seems like Marvel’s Merc with a Mouth has had his moment of epiphany. Although Deadpool is famous for his no-holds-barred verbal armor, his latest conviction has fans in splits, with some urging him to reconsider the school of thought and others clapping back at it.

In the latest cover story of Deadpool & Wolverine by Total Film, Ryan Reynolds discussed Deadpool and Wolverine as comic characters, drawing comparisons between two of their major on-screen appearances. The Deadpool actor referred to the first Deadpool film released in 2016 and Logan, which came out a year later. “Deadpool was different, and then right after, Logan was potentially the greatest comic-book adaptation ever made,” remarked Reynolds.

Reynolds' high praise for James Mangold’s darker take on Wolverine's character is shared by many. However, calling Logan the “greatest comic-book adaptation ever made” sparked opposition from some fans, even against Reynolds' judgment. While Logan was indeed a blockbuster for Wolverine, fans have their own opinions on what constitutes the best comic book adaptation.

Fans are in splits over Ryan Reynolds’ opinion on Wolverine ahead of Deadpool & Wolverine

With Deadpool & Wolverine, fans are eagerly anticipating the arrival of a Wolverine unlike any seen before in comic adaptations. However, the acceptance that Wolverine’s finest comic book adaptation has already been achieved in Logan naturally brings about some disagreement among fans. It is not that they do not recognize Logan as a masterpiece, but that they have their preferences, which they believe surpass it.

Some fans argued that The Dark Knight set the standard for comic accuracy and essence, while others favored Batman vs. Superman and Spider-Man 2 as their top choices. However, a significant number of fans agreed with Reynolds, with some even going so far as to assert that Logan deserved an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.

Especially since Reynolds has already bestowed the title of best comic book adaptation on Logan, Deadpool & Wolverine will need to go above and beyond to ensure that Wolverine’s return is not just greater, but possibly even superior.
