Since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s takeover, the Hollywood duo’s journey as owners has been no less than a rollercoaster. While the club did achieve its dream of promotion to the second division, their start was shaky. And one of the biggest shortcomings for the Welsh side was Paul Mullin’s injury. 

Not long before Wrexham started its journey in the football league, Mullin suffered a severe lung puncture during the preseason friendlies. The player’s absence was surely felt in the club’s initial matches. However, Mullin recently made a shocking revelation about his horrific injury. 

Paul Mullin reveals an advice he ignored after his injury

Wrexham star Paul Mullin made his much-awaited comeback to the Racecourse a while ago. The player even put up a show for the fans in the club’s latest fixture against Crewe Alexandra. As Mullin is still recovering from his severe injury, the player revealed that he ignored a piece of advice from the medical professionals. The medical team advised the former Morecambe star to wear a protective bandage on his chest. However, Mullin refused to wear the protective gear as he played the matches.

As per the latest reports by Mirror Co. UK, the Wrexham talisman revealed, “I was meant to wear it for a few weeks. But I’d rather take the pain and play in discomfort.” Interestingly, Mullin admitted how he feels his ribs are perfectly functioning now. However, he joked that he had to adjust his sleeping position to the right side. Elsewhere, Mullin spoke about his latest performance against Crewe Alexandra. Describing his experience, the player revealed that despite scoring a brace, he still felt that he had a lot of hard work to do.

Wrexham’s squad, however, still seems to struggle despite Mullin’s comeback.

Wrexham squad witnesses more injuries ahead of their Second Division challenges

The problem seems to be growing for Wrexham in the past few days. After Paul Mullin returned, the fans were excited to see the Red Dragons’ back on track. However, sadly, the club recorded some tough injuries over the last few games. The team’s star performer, Ollie Palmer, suffered an awkward twist in his knee. Palmer has been a significant contributor to Wrexham’s goal-scoring during Mullin’s absence.

Though the player returned during their latest fixture against Crewe Alexandra, he seemed to struggle on-field. Meanwhile, the club’s goalkeeper, Rob Lainton, is also down with his injured knee. Moreover, the player’s comeback seems highly unlikely in the coming weeks. For now, Wrexham will face Crawley Town in its next fixture on 7th October.
