Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have transformed the Welsh league since their Wrexham AFC takeover in 2020. Before the duo took over the Red Dragons, the Welsh league was barely known to the masses. However, now, both Wrexham and the Welsh leagues have become a hot topic among soccer fans. Their documentary series Welcome To Wrexham became a massive hit, contributing hugely to the club’s fame. With season two gracing the screens a while ago, the first few episodes have been a treat to watch. 

Welcome To Wrexham is often praised for its rawness and unfiltered coverage of Wrexham’s journey. And recently, Reynolds and McElhenney recalled a hilarious incident featuring fans of their rivals, Notts County.

Wrexham’s run in the National League this year was anything but ordinary. The Red Dragons nearly failed to achieve promotion until their dramatic victory against Notts County. Throughout their run, both the runaway sides formed an intense rivalry. Owing to that, Disney executives decided to interact with the opposition fans as a part of the documentary series. However, it seems like the Magpies were in no mood to take part as they had an X-rated response to their request. 

Reynolds and McElhenney recalled the incident in season two, where the producers requested the magpie’s fans to join them for a chat. As hilarious as it may sound, the fans bluntly rejected it as they replied, “No, you can shove your s*** documentary up your a***.” The response left the Hollywood duo in splits as McElhenney exclaimed, “I loved it.” However, despite a bitter rivalry, Notts County also managed to achieve promotion after winning the play-offs. Interestingly, both the National League teams have been showing outstanding performance in the football league.

Where do Wrexham and Notts County stand at the table? 

If you feel like Wrexham was having a great run in the Football league, Notts County’s performance will surprise you. The Magpies currently top the table of the second division with 20 points. Furthermore, they have only recorded one loss in nine games. Meanwhile, Wrexham’s unbeaten streak was recently put to an end by Stockport County.

The Red Dragons currently stand in seventh place, five points behind Notts County. As of late, the two former rivals are yet to meet in the Second Division. The Red Dragons will visit Meadow Lane on 28th October to fight the arch-rivals. Despite a disappointing performance, Luke Young seems to be optimistic about their side’s performance in the future fixtures.
