In a movie about the universe of Barbies, one expects the male characters to stick out like a sore thumb. Instead, in Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Barbie, Ryan Gosling among all the other Kens, actually led to the movie’s allure. With its strength at the box office increasing day by day, Barbie is set to be one of the most memorable movies of 2023. And this success is credited to Margot Robbie’s exceptional acting and the man who stole the spotlight, Ryan Gosling.

As it turns out, one aspect of the Canadian actor’s performance has won over audiences in particular. The same aspect has landed him in the league of actors like Jennifer Lawrence and Dwayne Johnson.

After his show-stealing portrayal of Ken, fans of the La La Land actor are demanding he finally gets an Oscar he was nominated for twice before. But it’s the song that he sang for Barbie that audiences loved the most. The track ‘I’m Just Ken’ has now landed him on Billboard’s Hot 100. This achievement makes him one of the few actors who featured on the chart.

The song is now ranking at number 87 in the chart of the most popular singles in the United States. Although five years have passed since Gosling won his Golden Globe award for acting, this entry into the Hot 100 is no small feat. Especially considering that the 42-year-old is primarily an actor.

Besides Dwayne Johnson for ‘You’re Welcome’ and Jennifer Lawrence for ‘The Hanging Tree’, Hollywood is home to many all-rounders that have made it on Billboard. Meryl Streep, known to be the master of all trades, is one among them. Others include the charming Bradley Cooper, Anne Hathaway, and Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan. The comedic genius Adam Sandler also graces the list alongside SNL writer Andy Samberg.

And a special mention is deserved by the actor turned talk show host Jimmy Fallon. Ryan Gosling’s entry into the list just goes to show how committed the actor was to his role. Considering that he once revealed how he relates to the struggles of being a real-life Ken, ‘I’m Just Ken’ is a track that probably came straight from the actor’s heart. Seeing how people have shown love to the song, it seems to have touched quite a few hearts, too.
