Meghan Markle and Thomas Markle have not been on good terms since she married Prince Harry. The father-daughter duo cut ties after the royal wedding because of the retired lighting director’s behavior and collaboration with the media just before the Sussexes’ royal wedding. The American director has repeatedly criticized the royal family and the Duchess of Sussex in interviews. However, the former actress has tried to avoid his harsh comments most of the time for the sake of her family and has not contacted or met him even once in the past years.

Senior Markle, however, recently tried to reignite that buried relationship and the royal experts have something to say about his sudden move. It seems he is looking for more than a simple family reunion.

Thomas Markle seeks public attention through Meghan Markle

Writing for Newsweek, Jack Royston recently rolled out an exclusive report after Thomas Markle urged his daughter for a reunion in an interview. The royal expert reflected on the motive the estranged father had behind his Good Morning Britain appearance. He claimed the 79-year-old is “attention hungry” and only wants to destroy the image Meghan Markle has created after the Invictus Games.

According to Royston, the man was just waiting for the event to conclude so he could attack the Suits alum for not allowing him to meet her kids. “The pair have not spoken since he staged paparazzi pictures for money in 2018 and later leaked a letter she sent him,” wrote the royal expert. For this reason, the Duchess has never let her father see his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The expert further pointed out his infidelities to Meghan Markle’s mother and that he could never be a good father. Thus, combining all these things, Royston proved that the Emmy winner only seeks attention from the media and nothing more.

What did the retired director tell the hosts of the ITV? 

On Monday, Thomas Markle spoke to Good Morning Britain in a live interview. In this conversation, he opened up about his estranged relationship with Meghan Markle. The Newport native revealed he has never met his grandkids and that he wants to get acquainted with them. He also claimed that his daughter had not reached out to him in the last five years, not even when he was going through major health issues.

The last time he talked to his son-in-law was before their wedding in 2018, when he was admitted to the hospital. However, he felt heartbroken that despite having grandchildren, he never got to spend time with them. In fact, he included the King of England in this statement that he should meet them, too.
