Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have leaned heavily on Netflix for their Hollywood dreams. The couple churned out multiple shows for the streaming service under their five-year deal worth $100 million. However, as the sands of time run out on their deal, the question is, will Netflix choose to extend the deal or part ways with the estranged royals? And reading between the lines, many royal observers are betting on the latter.

Amid such uncertainty as to where Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s careers are going, a royal expert has foreseen a huge financial blow that awaits the Californian couple.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry joined hands with Netflix just a few months after they announced their departure from the royal fold. However, the Sussexes have forever been questioned about their commitment to the deal, something that was even seen in the case of Spotify. This has led many to predict that history will repeat itself and the couple will face another snub, this time through Netflix. In a conversation with Mirror, Richard Fitzwilliams foresaw that with this snub, the Sussexes “might well be in financial trouble”.

The royal expert and commentator believes that the only thing that kept Netflix’s interest intact with the Sussexes was the exposés of royal life. However, since it has been hinted that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are not going to open that chapter again, the royal expert believes that there is nothing else that is intriguing about them. Nonetheless, the couple is not giving up without making their supposedly last year with Netflix count.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are now shifting from the narrative that helped them build an audience on Netflix, smash streaming records and sweep the annual Emmy awards. Instead of talking about their royal experiences, this time, the couple has chosen subjects that speak to their core. While the Duchess is coming up with a cooking show, the Duke will share his history with Polo sports, the streaming service announced earlier this year.

Richard Fitzwilliams, however, believes that these upcoming projects need “more A-list endorsements” to create an impact on the audience, as reported by the Daily Mail. Considering the waning interest in the royal couple's stories among fans, it is hard to deny the possibility of Fitzwilliams' predictions coming true, unless the ex-senior royals pull a complete turnaround.
