The last time Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth made their superheroic appearance on screen together was in Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Since the galactic mayhem ended, comic fans who grew up with these capes crusaders have often missed seeing them reprise their roles, given their character arcs in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, when Hemsworth recently received the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame star, Downey ensured to call upon his fellow Avengers for an affectionate roast of their beloved Thor.

With his trademark goodwill and sense of humor, Downey stole the spotlight at Hemsworth's ceremony with a unique Avengers reunion that had never been seen before.

Robert Downey Jr. recently gathered the mightiest heroes of the superhero universe as Chris Hemsworth was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on May 23. However, this time, it was not for a meticulously planned mission to save Earth, but to roast his fellow Avenger, Thor. Downey orchestrated a unique Avengers assembly, playfully humbling Hemsworth by sharing what their Marvel colleagues, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, and Chris Evans have to say about him in three words.

According to Renner, Hemsworth is “absurdly annoyingly amazing,” and Ruffalo, true to his signature humor, called him a “friend from work,” a "callback" teased by Downey. According to Johansson, he is a “sensitive leading lady,” while Evans considers him the “second-best Chris.” Whether this feedback was firsthand from the actual Marvel leaders or the product of Downey’s skilled improv remains debatable. Nevertheless, the gathering was undoubtedly the best Avengers assembly since Endgame.

After bidding farewell to the iron armor, Robert Downey Jr. turned his back on his savior genes to present a multi-layered antagonist in Oppenheimer. And like Downey, Chris Hemsworth might be following suit in making his name big beyond the superhero world with an upcoming thriller, Crime 101. However, the highlight of his step is that he might be sharing the screen with his Marvel buddy, Mark Ruffalo, as per Deadline’s latest report.

Both actors are currently in negotiations with MGM Studios to star in the film, set for release next year. Additionally, Hemsworth is set to take on a producer role alongside Ben Grayson. Plot details are being kept under wraps for now. Ruffalo has been enjoying a successful streak since his fourth Oscar nomination for Searchlight’s Poor Things, and with Hemsworth potentially joining forces with him, the upcoming award ceremonies are bound to be memorable. Hence, with this Marvel duo possibly reuniting on screen, the next Avengers assembly could be even more impactful and grand in scale.
