The Marvel Cinematic Universe has long been the mastermind behind some of the most electrifying superhero showdowns, shaping the very DNA of comic book cinema. But as Marvel suits up for a creative resurgence, ready to reclaim its throne, a certain web slinger’s potential no-show in Daredevil: Born Again has fans swinging through nostalgia. With Brad Winderbaum casting doubt on a live-action team-up between Spider-Man and Matt Murdock, it is the perfect time to dust off a fan-favorite tale—Charlie Cox’s side-splitting Spider-Man story starring none other than Andrew Garfield.
While Tom Holland’s Spidey might not leap into this chapter, Marvel fans can revel in Cox’s unforgettable run-in with the Amazing wall-crawler himself.

At Tampa Bay Comic Con from a year ago, a viral video captured Daredevil, Charlie Cox, spinning a web-sling tale so hilarious it could have been plucked straight from the multiverse of confusion. According to Cox, Spider-Man: No Way Home was wrapped in so much secrecy that when he let Andrew Garfield in on the top secret mission that he too, was in the movie, Spidey hit him with a firm, “No, dude, I’m doing Spider-Man.”
Even as Cox dropped hints, Garfield just could not wrap his head around it because Daredevil was nowhere to be found in his script. But Cox insisted he was in the movie even though the Marvel higher-ups were yet to inform Garfield and finally, the two heroes did what all great superheroes do in times of crisis—they met for dinner. However, the duo were not discussing Tobey Maguire's cameos for sure because soon it sank in that the idea was probably not foolproof.
In fact, as the night went on, Charlie Cox and Andrew Garfield may have regretted this Marvel meet up.
What turned the Spidey outing upside down for Charlie Cox and Andrew Garfield?
Charlie Cox may not meet Andrew Garfield or probably any Spider-Man in Daredevil: Born Again, no matter how enticing this Marvel outing turns out to be. However, when Garfield did believe Cox about his Spider-Man: No Way Home cameo and went out for dinner in Atlanta, they may have taken a second to wish they did not. As both arranged the dinner meeting and sat down, they realized it would be disastrous if they were photographed together.

Consequently, they ended up choosing a table where both of them were facing the wall. But Garfield’s struggle did not end in Atlanta as he reportedly struggled to feed himself and a DoorDash driver almost blew his cover. In a conversation on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Garfield once even shared how he had masked up like it was the peak pandemic when the delivery guy asked for his ID. Although it made up for some hilarious superhero anecdotes for the future, it sure left Daredevil and Spidey doubting their super senses.
