Prince Harry and Meghan Markle kissed goodbye to their senior royal positions and the responsibilities of attending politically pivotal assemblies and discussions that came with it in 2020. But the Californian royals were swept into the UN General Assembly on Nelson Mandela Day in 2022 owing to their admiration for the tireless advocate of equality, Nelson Mandela. Prince Harry even took to the stage to channel the late leader’s pacifism as he raised his voice against the war in Ukraine. But somewhere in between talking about wars and calamities around the world, Prince Harry mentioned the havoc that climate change has wrecked on our planet.

The trope of world leaders advocating for climate change is not a new one. Especially not for the Sussexes who catch every chance of speaking about carbon emissions, even if that means flying on their $6.5 million private jet.

In 2019, a sixteen-year-old by the name of Greta Thunberg brought herself and the rest of the U.N. Climate Action Summit in New York to tears as she courageously questioned the world leaders on how dare they decorate their dreams of economic growth as we stand at the verge of mass extinction. The words coming from the mouth of a young Swedish girl opened a lot of eyes. But the same words, albeit in a different shade, coming from the owner of a private jet, only raised eyebrows. Prince Harry’s high complaints about climate change paled against the heights he has flown with his private jets.

The royal family of Britain may experience turbulences when it comes to media and politics, however, it always flies steadily on private jets when traveling. And Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who have counted themselves out from royal endeavors, propose that the massive carbon footprints left by the royal family do not have a trace of their own. At least 99% of the time, according to Prince Harry.

The criticism that followed Prince Harry’s address on Nelson Mandela Day led to many speculations about the number of trips he has made on private jets. And while the number was estimated to be somewhere between 20-30 just between 2019-2021, there is no way to confirm.

What is etched on property papers, however, is that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have their own little sky baby. Well, as little as a twelve-seater private jet gets. They rode this Cessna 680 to mark their Megxit trip from Canada to the United States. Now that he has his own eco-friendly tourism initiative with Travalyst, a private jet worth $6.5 million is not a very good look.
