Ranking 8 Exciting On-Screen Pairings Soon to Hit the Silver Screen
There have been many cases where a successful on-screen pairing and their chemistry have drawn audiences to the theaters, even for a movie that was not anticipated to do much. One of the most recent examples of this is the 2023 romantic comedy Anyone But You, starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, which became a surprise hit, mainly because of the chemistry of the leading pair. The industry needs more such pairings that leave the audience wondering if they will ever collaborate again.
Here are eight on-screen pairs who are coming up soon and are bound to be real crowd-pleasers.

Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal are teaming up for the big-screen version of Maggie O’Farrell’s novel Hamnet. In the movie, Mescal will play a young William Shakespeare, while Buckley will play his wife, Anne Hathaway. However, this is not the first time Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal will work on the same project. The two were co-stars in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Lost Daughter.
Buckley and Mescal, however, did not have any screen time together in the psychological drama. Their upcoming film Hamnet began production in Wales earlier this year, and although there is no confirmed release date, the movie will likely hit theaters by 2025.
7. Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson
Both Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson are celebrated actors in Hollywood, and it is a shame that they have never worked together. Nonetheless, the stars are in talks to pair up for Die, My Love, a thriller directed by Lynne Ramsay, who is also co-writing the screenplay with Enda Walsh.
Both Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson are currently in negotiations to star in the project, which also has veteran filmmaker Martin Scorsese as a producer. While Lawrence will most likely play “a mother who struggles to maintain her sanity as she battles with psychosis,” Pattinson’s role is still unspecified.
6. Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs
Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs will be starring in the reboot and reimagining of The Crow film series, based on the comic book of the same name. The pair not only shared great chemistry on-screen, as was evident from the trailer, but also had “incredible chemistry as friends off-set," as FKA Twigs told British Vogue.
Director Rupert Sanders had teased earlier that the new version will feature more of the pair’s romance. He also shared that Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs never had to take a chemistry test for the movie. “They hung out and were straight into it,” Sanders told Vanity Fair. The Crow will be released this month, on August 23, blessing Hollywood with another hot pairing.
5. Regina Hall and Leonardo DiCaprio
Regina Hall and Leonardo DiCaprio are collaborating with Sean Penn for Paul Thomas Anderson’s next film, The Battle of Baktan Cross. This will be an adaptation of Thomas Pynchon’s Vineland and is due for worldwide release on August 8, 2025. The Battle of Baktan Cross began production in January of this year, and its title has been a subject of intense speculation.
The Paul Thomas Anderson project was shot in California under the working title BC Project. It was recently revealed, through a report by Jeff Sneider, who also broke this casting news in December 2022, that the film will be titled The Battle of Baktan Cross.
Considering Leo’s track record and Regina Hall's long-overdue recognition, fans are all over social media hoping this movie will be a bona fide Oscar contender.
4. Timothée Chalamet and Elle Fanning
Timothée Chalamet and Elle Fanning are reuniting after five years for Bob Dylan’s biopic A Complete Unknown. The movie recently got a Christmas release date this year. Chalamet and Fanning were last seen in the 2019 romantic comedy A Rainy Day in New York. While their chemistry in the movie was very evident, the pair was not seen together after the first few minutes, as they were separated for most of the movie.
With the upcoming movie hitting theaters this December, the hope is that fans will get to see more of this on-screen pair. While Chalamet will be the main focus in the movie, playing Bob Dylan, Fanning will play a character named Sylvie in the film, who is roughly based on Suze Rotolo, a former brief romance of the ‘Just Like a Woman’ singer.
3. Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield
Fans got a hint of Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield’s chemistry at the 2023 Oscars when the two entered the stage together to present the Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay prizes. Following the Oscars, many fans on social media pushed for the actors to pair up on-screen. Just two days later, Deadline confirmed that Pugh and Garfield are in negotiation to star in We Live In Time.
We Live In Time is an upcoming romantic drama helmed by John Crowley. The movie unveiled its first trailer last month and is scheduled to hit theaters on January 1, 2025.
2. Zendaya and Robert Pattinson
Jennifer Lawrence is not the only actress Robert Pattinson is in talks to pair up with this year. He is also in negotiations for an A24 film from Kristoffer Borgli called The Drama with Zendaya. This would be the pair’s first-ever collaboration. However, both Zendaya and Pattinson are yet to confirm the reports, and it will be safe to jump to conclusions only then, given the false reports of Hollywood pairings that are doing the rounds.
Although plot details for the film are still being kept under wraps, rumors suggest that it will focus on a couple whose world turns upside down just before their big day.
