Rachel Zegler Receives Brutal Trolling, Following a Homage to the Place That Birthed ‘Snow White’

Disney’s intermittent forays into fairy tale territory have long been a nostalgic odyssey for generations enchanted by its iconic princesses. However, the live-action reimagining of Snow White has encountered more hurdles than hype, thanks to the evolving zeitgeist. As the years have passed, classic narratives have faced intense scrutiny, and Snow White is poised to shake things up with its groundbreaking casting of Rachel Zegler as a Latina princess, deviating delightfully from the traditional canon. However, Zegler’s heartfelt tribute to Snow White’s origins has sparked a vicious barrage of online trolling, leaving fans and critics poisoned by the vitriol.
Disney recently shared a short snippet of Rachel Zegler’s magical performance on ‘Waiting on a Wish’ in front of Alcazar Segovia Castle in Spain, the very castle that is said to have inspired the 1937 animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Zegler delivered a powerful performance, giving Snow White a 21st-century twist. Despite the nostalgia, the historical backdrop, and the beautiful homage, all fans saw was the trajectory of controversies floating around the project, turning them into the most brutal critics.

Rachel Zegler portrays the titular Disney princess in the upcoming Snow White live-action—a decision that ruffled not just a few but many feathers. Fans criticized the casting because of its visible differentiation from the source material despite the star defending it. However, her casting is not the only issue with the project since Peter Dinklage also slammed Disney for its appropriation of the seven dwarfs characters.
Though Rachel Zegler has tried her best to embrace the sentiments of the fans, having addressed the uproar before, the same cannot be said for the followers who are not ready to give Snow White a shot.
Rachel Zegler’s mystical symphonic salute to Snow White has fans all the more furious
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is one of those fairy tales that have been spoon-fed to every generation and passed on just as meticulously. Despite Disney’s modern approach to Snow White, who is practically described as “as white as snow”, the upcoming project has failed to garner the buzz. If anything, Rachel Zegler has only borne the brunt of the unrelenting backlash, and even after her spellbinding nod, fans are not ready to submit to this princess.
Though reiteration of classics like Snow White usually generates anticipation with fans marking their theatrical attendances early on, Zegler’s ethereal tribute had them enrolling their no-show.
