Rachel Zegler Coming to MCU? Fans Make a Collective Suggestion for Her Possible Marvel Role

Anyone with even a passing knowledge of Rachel Zegler knows she has somehow become a very polarizing figure in Hollywood in the past few months. From what it seems, it all boils down to her refusal to stick to the usual cookie-cutter PR platitudes combined with a toxic cocktail of anti-strike grumbling and rigid ideas about Disney Princess branding that led to her carrying Hollywood's infamous 'annoying woman' torch. Now, with rumors about her MCU debut making the rounds online, fans have given their ultimate verdict, loud and clear.

Insider MyTimeToShineHello recently shared a rumor on X, saying, “Marvel Studios wants Rachel Zegler for a role.” Considering Disney has already cast her as the lead in their live-action Snow White remake, it is hardly surprising that she might land a spot in the Marvel universe. Marvel has also reportedly tapped Michael Lesslie- the co-writer of The Hunger Games (which featured Zegler)- for a potential X-Men reboot.

Rachel Zegler also starred in West Side Story, one of the most acclaimed films of 2021, directed by the legendary Steven Spielberg. It was distributed by Fox-owned 20th Century Studios, which also serves as another connection. Given her ties, it would not be too surprising if Zegler were in the running for an X-Men reboot in the MCU. However, she may not be exactly welcomed with open arms by MCU fans.

Fan support for bringing Rachel Zegler into the MCU is not exactly that high and they are less than excited about the idea.

Fans have rejected the idea of Rachel Zegler joining the MCU

After being picked out of high school by Steven Spielberg to play Maria in his remake of West Side Story, Rachel Zegler quickly became one of Hollywood's most talked-about actresses. However, this also made her a target for scrutiny, and it is quite clear she has not been very careful with her controversial statements about movies and the industry. As a result, when MyTimeToShineHello asked fans which MCU role they would like to see her in, the response was a unanimous "none."

Of course, there were a few who not only suggested MCU roles for Zegler but also stood up for her against the ongoing, uncalled-for hate.

Zegler’s backlash grew even louder after she criticized the original Snow White. She was slammed for bashing the classic and disrespecting a film's legacy- something that, based on past patterns, might not have been an issue if said by a male actor. Still, pop culture’s love-hate cycle with celebrities is nothing new, and it is possible that an MCU role could be her ticket to turning things around online.
