Sony Pictures seems to have caught up in its film production, as the production house is working on several projects this year. While one of their most anticipated projects, Madame Web, starring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney, is releasing next year, the production is ready for their next project. Surprisingly, this time it is going to be an R-rated film starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

In their recent presentation at CinemaCon, the production house announced their next big-budget project. Sony Pictures is all set to create Kraven the Hunter, a spin-off of Spiderman. This will be the first R-rated project for the production house. Most importantly, Johnson playing the Kraven is what fans find most exciting.

While Sony Pictures’ long-time ally Marvel has produced several R-rated films, this is the first time Sony is trying its hand in this category. Johnson will be playing the titular villain Kraven the Hunter, who first appeared in the 1960s in The Amazing Spider-Man edition. He is renowned for possessing a number of powers, all of which raise the extent of his physical prowess to a superhuman scale.

The discussion behind the next face of James Bond has been going on for a while now. A number of actors are in line to play the world’s number one spy, including Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill. Apparently, Johnson is also a strong candidate and is running a lot ahead in the race to become Bond. However, there is no end to this debate unless the makers finalize who the next face of 007 is going to be.

A big relief is that until his role as James Bond is finalized, fans have something to pine over. However, it won’t be the first time Johnson appears in a superhero film. He has previously played Pietro Maximoff in Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The film will be released in the first week of October this year, and J. C. Chandor will be directing it.
